I like you because you are like me
seeing every angle to a situation
looking at the bright side
resilient, brave
I like you because you cover my legs when they’re cold
because somehow you feel responsible
because you feed me and get me drunk
I like you because you like my cooking
and think I can do no wrong
because you write me songs
and take things in stride
I like you because you have a good brain
decent credit score, equity and savings
you are a contientious spender
and don’t follow all trends
I like you because we’re both explorers
fascinated by people and places
songs and life
I like you because we like simple things
picnics and walks and chats and food
I like you because you think you can change the world
and in a different way, so do I
I like that politics get to you and you need to rant
that you care
I like you because we click in bed
because we’re both skinny and flexible
adventurous and confident
our energy works
So, don’t be fooled by the romance
nor intimidated by the ocassional drama
because see, I don’t like you for your pretty face
I like you for practical reasons.
