To Dai for

So, I went to Sushi to Dai for, my favorite sushi place in San Rafael because of the many choices and great flavors, not to mention the crowd. I like crowded sushi restaurants because, as a friend always says, “you know they’re using fresh fish when lots of people are eating.” I went in by myself and sat at the bar, as I like to do when I go eat alone. But before I sat, I ran into Dai, the owner. Unkowingly, I asked if he worked there. Dai is a sharp looking Japanese guy in his late forties. Who knows, maybe early fifties. He’s skinny and tonight was dressed in all white, with spiky hair and slightly unbuttoned shirt. It’s not that I found Dai attractive, don’t get me wrong; but it’s good to put a face to the “Dai” in this restaurant with awesome food.

And for those who complain about the Mexican sushi chefs yelling at each other in Spanish behind the counter, I actually think this is one of the best features of this place. I just love how Mexicans in California keep the restaurant business going. They get versatile working in anything from Caribbean to Vegan restaurants and do it so well. To Dai for… and now back to the book du jour.
