This book falls in my hands in the midst of a transition, in the middle of my short-lived three months of client services work at WI, from a girl who embodies the values of multi-culturalism with the most sober of attitudes, who exudes wisdom and gentleness and whom I was lucky to befriend.
Eat, pray and love talks about the tumultuous journey of a New York, book-writer divorcee, Elizabeth Gilbert, who travels to Italy, then India and finally to Bali over the course of a year to find her Self. This author’s grace in story-telling is touching, funny, spiritual and profoundly human. A woman who emerges from self-pity, confusion and depression to discover her inner Self, her strength and her capacity for self-acceptance and nurturing, to finally find love that has little to do with white picket fences, pressure and unrealistic expectations. Inspiring, appropriate and undoubtedly heart-warming. How timely, how uplifting!
At least, this isn’t another “trash” blog….
