When I first heard of CSI Miami, I was not only skeptical, but protective of the original CSI (Vegas) I’d come to love since the series beginning 5+ years ago. There was just no way that blond, dressed up guy was going to replace cool Gil Grissom with all his criminal science, his uncared-for hair, his inherently tormented, dark demeanor and somewhat appealing aloofness. I couldn’t figure out why the whole Miami CSI crew just had to look so good every single time, when all they do is pick up cadavers, stain their clothes with blood and analyze crime scenes. And then it hit me: it’s Miami, yes Latin place… and as we all know Latin = dressed up (or do Italians also do this? – I’m getting off my point).
Anyhow, six months later, I’m really loving CSI Miami and appreciating Horatio Caine‘s do good, care for all, hands on, in-your-face character played by David Caruso. Yes, his voice inflictions are nothing but inappropriate when he’s threatening a suspect, but even that, which used to annoy the heck out of me in the beginning, I don’t even notice anymore. The air shots of Miami and its beaches glow in HD loveliness. The series shows true deference to the city’s beauty… and then there’s Eric Delko, the first generation Cuban agent played by quick-get-me-some-water-and-fresh-air, he’s-so-hot-I’m-suffocating: Adam Rodriguez. Eric is the embodiment of a decent guy: caring, cool and humble. Lately, show producers finally realized how hot this guy is or something, because they’re finally giving his character some Miami chick action.
After two months in the Caribbean, I knew I’d miss many things about the U.S., but oh Horatio, I underestimated how much I’d miss YOU! Thank god for TIVO!
So my fixation with criminal investigation is no surprise for future posts, here are other series I could watch hours of: Law & Order (all of them, but strongly prefer Criminal Intent), Matlock, Murder, She Wrote.
Good to know so you don’t scare us I guess, huh?
Thanks for coming by and reading my blog regularly. I appreciate that and don’t worry, you’re probably going to get hit by my poetry tag before too long where I give you five words and you make a poem with them. Would you be interested?
I think you just helped me start a Tag I am supposed to follow of dear friend KIM. Dirty little secret and CSI, that just has to work. I know most of those who like CSI detest CSI Miami, but I have to agree, if I take out their disability to stay within reality (as if they’d really try and test every single alligator in the Everglades for human remains for example AND actually find the right culprit) , I thoroughly enjoy it and most of Horatio.
Come to think of it, I just have this thing for characters where you have to get to know them to love them and if you’re not patient enough (cause there are way better shows out there to waste one’s time) you just miss out. Very much enjoyed this read by the way.
Grissom’s awsome!!!
Grissom’s awsome!!!
Hey Kim, playing poetry tag sounds fun. Just give me a couple of days to turn it around. Cheers.
