A friend with similar reading taste handed me this book, by Italian author Alberto Moravia. The title could insinuate that this is a self-help book for couples. Rather, it is the story of a married couple during a short period of their time together. The book starts out being funny and witty, creating excitement and anticipation. It turns rather bland and slow as it progresses, ending in an expected if not unsatisfying limbo. To the cynics, it almost seems that this book portraits the reality of marriage?! I heard Moravia’s “Contempt” is likely his best and might pick that up.
I rea this Book around 1980s and remember that it was widely read Book of the time.Because, it has some very sensitive moments as well as exitements at the latter stage.
However, it is very romantic which catches the heart of the people, but needs passion.Thanks.
